Adults and children over 12 years should chew two to four tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day if needed. Do not exceed 16 tablets in 24 hours. The tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. Gaviscon tablets are for oral use only and do not need to be taken with water.
Each tablet contains sodium alginate (250 mg), sodium bicarbonate (106.5 mg), and calcium carbonate (187.5 mg) as active ingredients. Other ingredients include mannitol (E421), macrogol 20,000, copovidone, aspartame (E951), magnesium stearate, mint flavouring, and carmine lake (E120).
Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. Gaviscon contains sodium and calcium, so consult your doctor before use if you are on a controlled salt or calcium diet, or have kidney problems. This product should not be taken within two hours of other medications, as it may interfere with their absorption. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can use Gaviscon, but should consult with a healthcare professional first. Always keep out of reach of children and store below 30°C.
Gaviscon is generally well tolerated, but in rare cases, allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat may occur.
